Multifactor raises $15M seed round to make online accounts safe for AI agents

Multifactor has raised a $15M seed round led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from amazing funds like Y Combinator, Taurus Ventures, Honeystone Ventures, Flex Capital, Pioneer Fund, Ritual Capital, Liquid2 Ventures and leading operators across security, AI and enterprise software including Mohan & Padma Warrior, Gokul Rajaram and Mathilde Collin.

Vivek Nair – Co-Founder & CEO of Multifactor said, “We’re building Multifactor as a public benefit company because securing the modern web isn’t just a market opportunity; it’s a responsibility. Thank you to our early users, advisors, and investors for believing that identity security can – and must – be fundamentally better.”

The company is focused on a simple truth: AI agents, and the people who use them, can’t safely collaborate online with yesterday’s tools. Passwords and legacy identity systems were never designed for the AI era and agents acting on our behalf. Our goal with Multifactor is to bring mathematically provable guarantees to everyday accounts, so you can share access without exposing credentials, whether the collaborator is a human or AI.

We’re scientists at heart – curious, mission-driven, and transparent. We publish research, contribute open source, and hold ourselves accountable when we miss. That’s the culture we’re scaling with this round: a team that pursues hard problems with rigor, communicates plainly about what’s possible, and ships technology that stands on first principles.

This funding helps us move faster on the work that matters most: advancing Multifactor’s core technologies, expanding our APIs and enterprise controls, and growing a world-class research and engineering team. If you share our conviction that identity should be your strongest defense – not your biggest vulnerability – come build with us. The future of zero-trust is within reach, and we’re committed to delivering it.
